While the U.S. was buried in snow and ice this President's Day weekend - we went to the beach. Although a few in our party ended up with food poisoning (and we had to throw away our Peter Pan peanut butter - not related) the beach was great. Some waves, a leatherback turtle that came in and layed eggs on the hotel property (and whose eggs and babies will survive as a result) and some mid-February sun. Great way to spend a long weekend.

A day on the playground, climbing trees and even swimming lessons for one of the girls. Life in February in Accra is good. Although the garden hasn't seen rain for more than 2 months now and everything is turning to dust - there's still fun to be had outside!


H takes some tree climbing lessons from her big sis and gets right up there. The girl is not afraid. She can also be seen trying to commander the 4x4 electric buggy that's arrived in the yard and run over her mother's feet.

Despite not really liking to get her face wet, there's been some progress towards swimming. We need to keep up the practice.

We had Christmas in January when Grandma and Grandpa came to the big white house. And low and behold Santa brought the girls some bicycles! Round and round they go! Trying to convince them to put their helmets on can be a challenge sometimes though!

Harmattan (the dust from the Sahara) was bad this year. Luckily we weren't here for most of it - but everything still has a fine coat of dust on it. We stopped exercising outside and started hacking - but blissfully the dust has now blown away.

M spent some time with her beach blanket on, enjoying herself in the sand.
