Christmas Show at Gingerbread School

On Friday 9 December, M premiered in the Christmas show at Gingerbread School as the "chief ham" of singing. All of the children gathered behind the plastic curtains, they opened and the carols began! M interspersed her musical performances intermittant dancing and hugs for Mama in the front row. The numbers included Jingle Bells (an M favorite), a Ghanaian Christmas carol (sung in Twi - correctly I am told by Theresa), We wish you a Merry Christmas, etc...

M however was bored by the time the nativity scene was played out. After plonking her present on the baby Jesus - she went off to play with Playdough. Interest was rekindled again when it was time for Santa to come and visit though - although she was a bit surprised to find that Santa was African. The Ghanaian Santa! At bedtime she confided that "there was a man dressed up as Santa at the Christmas show." Oh - early dissolution of belief... However - Santa brought her a big Chinese dragon train - so maybe that Ghanaian Santa is okay after all.
